Former FBI Director Appointed By Justice Dept. To Oversee Russia Probe

On Wednesday the Justice Department appointed former FBI Director Robert Mueller as special counsel to oversee the federal investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election.

This includes an investigation into possible collusion between President Donald Trump's campaign and Russian official.

Previously, Attorney General Jeff Sessions recused himself from having any involvement in the investigation since he was a prominent campaign adviser and surrogate to Trump during the election.

The appointment of Mueller is aimed at calming down the criticism that the Trump administration has faced since Trump fired FBI Director James Comey last week.
