Democrats Search for Answers After GOP's Georgia 6th Congressional Seat Win

As Republicans enjoy their win following a special congressional race in Georgia that transformed from a conventional conservative suburban bid into one of the most expensive races in history, Democrats are left with yet another bitter defeat, and more questions about just what kind of country they inhabit.

Republican Karen Handel won about 52 percent of the vote in Georgia's 6th Congressional District to stave off the unlikely challenger of Jon Ossoff, a 30-year-old Democrat who - despite not living in the district - raised more than $23 million and became a symbol of opposition to President Donald Trump.

Seen as a proxy for the upcoming 2018 midterm elections in Washington, Democrats must now find a way to translate the President's record-setting disapproval ratings into wins, if they wish to take back Congress.
