Opponents Urge SCOTUS To Reject Trump Appeal

On Tuesday challengers of President Donald Trump's embattled travel ban, which restricts travel from six Muslim-majority countries, once again urged the U.S. Supreme Court to reject the president's attempts to revive the order.

The administration has appealed lower court rulings blocking the travel ban and made an emergency request that the Supreme Court put the order into effect immediately while the legal battle over its legality continues.

 A decision by the justices on whether to take up the case could come as soon as this week. 

Opponents of the measure insist that Trump has undermined his own argument by requiring the government to conduct an internal review of its vetting procedures. 

According to Neal Katyal, a lawyer representing Hawaii, "This memorandum conclusively severs the already tenuous relationship between the bans and their ostensible rationale..."
