Rod Rosenstein Takes Shot at Director James Comey: We Have an Obligation...

During his Senate testimony last month, former FBI Director James Comey revealed that he had given one of the memos he took of his conversations with President Donald Trump to a friend in order to release to the press.

In an interview with Fox News’ Martha MacCallum, Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein took a subtle shot at the ex-FBI chief over that action.

Asked by the Fox News host if it would ever be proper to take notes of a conversation with the president and later leak them to the press, Rosenstein cited the need for confidentiality.

“As a general proposition, you have to understand the Department of Justice,” he told MacCallum.

“We take confidentiality seriously, so when we have memoranda about our ongoing matters, we have an obligation to keep that confidential.”

Pressed on whether he’d prohibit the release of these types of memos, the deputy AG said:

 “I think it’s quite clear.”
