Gorgeous Photo of Martian Landscape Is Only the Beginning for ExoMars Mission

The ExoMars Trace Gas Orbiter has released the first images from its new orbit, taken on April 15 from 400 kilometers above the Martian surface. The image reveals 40 kilometers of dust, dirt, and ice along the Korolev impact crater in the planet’s Northern Hemisphere. The orbiter is part of the ExoMars program, a collaboration between European Space Agency and the Russian space agency, Roscocmos. Its seeks to understand the Martian atmosphere. It seeks to understand the gas in the Martian atmosphere—methane gas, in particular. By mapping the methane, it’s going to provide hints of whether there are some other yet-to-be-understood processes occurring on the Martian surface. https://ift.tt/2Fkz1aZ http://www.wochit.com This video was produced by YT Wochit News using http://wochit.com
