Manhattan To Build $1 Billion Wall To Guard Against Superstorms

More than five years after Hurricane Sandy hit New York City, the city is still recovering. Sandy resulted in $19 billion in damage to NYC. New York now has more residents living in high-risk flood zones than any other city in the nation. The Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) is now funding a massive barrier. Called the BIG U, the design by Bjarke Ingels Group includes levees, a floodwall, and a park. Construction is set to begin in Spring 2019. HUD and the City of New York have given nearly $1 billion toward its implementation. https://ift.tt/2HtY11B http://www.wochit.com This video was produced by YT Wochit News using http://wochit.com
