Study Claims 'Zombie Deer' Prion Disease Might Not Infect Humans, Maybe

According to a report by Gizmodo, a long-term study published Wednesday in the Journal of Virology, has abated some of scientists' worst fears regarding 'zombie deer,' otherwise known as prion disease, spreading across the US and Canada. The fatal ailment, also known as chronic wasting disease, is the result of a mysterious kind of protein called a prion. The study released Wednesday, which contradicts other research, claims that the disease does not seem capable of crossing the species barrier and spreading to humans. The authors of the study, which was funded by the National Institutes of Health, wrote, "After 13 years, no evidence for CWD transmission to macaques was detected clinically or using highly sensitive prion disease screening assays." https://ift.tt/2HVAQRa http://www.wochit.com This video was produced by YT Wochit News using http://wochit.com
