Another Kilauea Explosion Ejects Ash Cloud Up To 10,000 Feet

According to an alert from the Hawaiian Volcano Observatory, a small explosion from Hawaii's Kilauea volcano at about midnight local time shot an ash cloud up to 10,000 feet in the air. CNN reports that following the eruption, fast-moving lava crossed a road and threatened dozens of homes, prompting residents to be airlifted to safety by National Guard Helicopters. US Geological Survey geologist Janet Babb told CNN affiliate Hawaii News Now, "With fresher, hotter magma, there's the potential that the lava flows can move with greater ease and therefore cover more area." The agency has urged residents living near Highway 137 to be ready for voluntary evacuations in the event that the threat continues to grow. https://ift.tt/2ItVSaO http://www.wochit.com This video was produced by YT Wochit News using http://wochit.com
