FDA Approves New Opioid Withdrawal Treatment

The FDA has approved the first treatment for opioid withdrawal that is not based on an opioid drug. Made by US WorldMeds, the drug Lucemyra specifically treats narcotic withdrawal symptoms including; vomiting, muscle aches, diarrhea, anxiety, sleep problems and sweats. But withdrawal from opioids has been treated with other opioid substitutes, like buprenorphine or methadone, to gradually wane people off narcotics. According to the Food and Drug Administration, opioid overdoses contributed two-thirds of drug overdose deaths during 2016. The most common narcotics those people overdosed on were fentanyl, heroin and prescription painkillers. https://ift.tt/2rTvPyr http://www.wochit.com This video was produced by YT Wochit News using http://wochit.com
