Hawaii Volcano Continues To Threaten Big Island With Toxic Gas & Molten Lava

According to a report by CNN, at least five homes were destroyed after the Kilauea volcano on Hawaii's Big Island erupted, ejecting molten rocks and high levels of toxic sulfur dioxide into neighborhoods. Hundreds of people were driven from their homes by the eruption on Thursday. On Friday, the eruption was followed by a magnitude 6.9 quake, the most powerful on the island since 1975. According to the US Geological Survey, at least eight volcanic vents opened up in Leilani Estates, a community of about 1,700 people who were all ordered to evacuate. The Hawaii Civil Defense Agency said Saturday night, "The area continues to be unstable with volcanic venting and related hazards of earthquake and poisonous gases ongoing." https://ift.tt/2wf0njN http://www.wochit.com This video was produced by YT Wochit News using http://wochit.com
