Lava, Ash Plume From Hawaiian Volcano Sends Residents Fleeing

A volcano on Hawaii's Big Island erupted Thursday, scarring forests and sending plumes of ash thousands of feet into the sky. According to Business Insider, a small fissure opened up during the eruption around 5:00 p.m. Thursday, spewing lava and gas into the neighborhood and onto roads. Lava poured into the Leilani Estates subdivision of Hawaii's Puna district. The fissure remained active for over an hour, scarring forests and forcing some residents to evacuate. A magnitude-5.0 earthquake that struck the area earlier this week served as a warning that an eruption could be coming. https://ift.tt/2JROAtn http://www.wochit.com This video was produced by YT Wochit News using http://wochit.com
