The Teacher Of The Year Handed Trump A Stack Of Letters From Her Refugee Students

On Wednesday, Donald Trump presented the National Teacher of the Year award to Mandy Manning. She was honored for her work teaching English to immigrants and refugees at the Newcomer Center at Joel E. Ferris High School in Spokane, Washington. In a speech which wasn't broadcast, Manning spoke about her students' experiences and successes. "My aim is to elevate my student's voices and be that vehicle for them," Manning said. Trump reportedly congratulated Manning but didn't mention her students or reference that they are refugees. Manning gave Trump a stack of handwritten letters from her students during the event. Trump, reportedly, is excited to read them. https://ift.tt/2rezh6u http://www.wochit.com This video was produced by YT Wochit News using http://wochit.com
