Mexico's New President Insists On Trilateral NAFTA



The United States and Mexico are due to release the text of their trade agreement on Friday. According to Reuters, it will pressure Canada to join its partners in revamping NAFTA.

However, Mexico’s president-elect Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador says he'll insist on a trilateral pact. Lopez Obrador said Canadian PM Justin Trudeau asked him ask the US to reach a deal with Canada. But he said the NAFTA language between Washington and Mexico City was now final.

However, he added “the negotiation is not closed” between the United States and Canada. In fact, he'd been told that the Trump administration has made a new counter-proposal to Ottawa.
